Insurance Claim Assistance

Jay's Roofing will inspect your roof after a storm, document what we find, and work with your insurance adjuster on the scope of repair or replacement. We have done this for a good many customers in the valley, particularly since the 2024 flood.

How we differ from a storm-chaser

We want to be plain about this: we are primarily a retail roofing contractor, not an insurance-claim operation. We do not knock doors after hailstorms, we do not file claims on your behalf, and we will not push you toward a claim that is likely to be denied or that will cost you more in premium than the repair is worth.

What we will do is get on the roof, tell you honestly whether the damage is storm-related and claim-worthy, photograph and document it properly, meet your adjuster on site, and price the work fairly whether it is going through insurance or not.

What to do after storm damage

  • Photograph anything visible from the ground, including fallen limbs and debris
  • Do not remove damaged material before it has been documented
  • Call us for an inspection — free, and no obligation to file
  • If a claim makes sense, contact your carrier and we will meet the adjuster

If it turns out to be normal wear rather than storm damage, we will tell you that too, and quote the work as a straightforward retail job.

Serving Swannanoa, Black Mountain, Montreat, Ridgecrest, Asheville, Biltmore Forest, Fairview, Weaverville, Mars Hill and throughout Western North Carolina.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will you file the insurance claim for me?

No - and be wary of contractors who offer to. We inspect, document the damage with photographs, and meet your adjuster on site. You file with your carrier; we make sure the scope is right and the work is priced fairly.

  • Will you tell me if a claim is not worth filing?

Yes. If the damage is normal wear rather than storm damage, or the repair costs less than your deductible and future premium increase, we will say so and quote it as a straightforward retail job.

  • How are you different from the storm-chasers who knock on doors?

We are a retail roofing contractor that has been in this valley for over 30 years. We do not knock doors after hailstorms, we do not file claims on your behalf, and we will still be here when the warranty question comes up.

  • What should I do right after storm damage?

Photograph anything visible from the ground, leave damaged material in place until it is documented, and call us for a free inspection. If a claim makes sense, contact your carrier and we will meet the adjuster.
