Metal is the roof of choice for a lot of mountain property, and it is a large share of what we install. Jay's Roofing has been installing metal roofing across Western North Carolina for over 30 years — from straightforward Tuff-Rib panel to mechanically fastened standing seam on homes in Biltmore Forest and on Reynolds Mountain.

Systems we install

Tuff-Rib exposed-fastener panel

The workhorse. Economical, fast to install, available in a wide color range including Galvalume, and a very common choice for new construction, outbuildings and simple roof lines. Figure roughly 30% above an architectural shingle roof.

5V crimp

A traditional profile that suits older homes, cabins and porches where the look matters as much as the performance.

Mechanically fastened standing seam

The premium system — no exposed fasteners, concealed clips that let the panel move with temperature, and the cleanest finish available. It runs 60–100% more than shingles and it is genuinely difficult to execute well on a cut-up roof full of hips, valleys and dormers. That is the work we are proudest of.

Why metal, here

Steep pitches shed snow and debris well, panels handle ridge wind better than a tab shingle, and a properly installed metal roof will outlast several shingle roofs. On shaded, damp mountain lots it also sidesteps the moss and algae that shorten a shingle roof's life.

Color and combinations

We work with JD Metals and can walk you through their color simulator before you commit. Metal also mixes well with shingle — copper or painted standing seam on porch roofs, dormers and bay windows over a CertainTeed field is a combination we install often.
